2005 was the best year of my career. I appeared in Deborah Warner's JULIUS CAESAR at The Barbican with Ralph Fiennes, Simon Russell Beale, Fiona Shaw and John Shrapnel, then I flew to India to star in ITV1's drama documentary SURVIVORS about the Tsunami, came home to play Sir John Falstaff in an open air touring production of THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR and then toured the UK playing Sir Toby Belch in TWELFTH NIGHT and Lockwood in WUTHERING HEIGHTS.
2006
Sun 29th Jan - My production of PLAYING FOR ENGLAND by Phil O'Shea at The Kings Head, Islington is now over! We all made the princely sum of £45 EACH - so a success then! The play may appear at a venue near you soon! More details to follow.
Monday 20th Feb - YES! I get a TV job. Dave Greene, security guard in episode one of ITV's new Saturday tea time dinosaur drama PRIMEVAL by Adrian Hodges! I film my scene in April.
Early March - I am recalled to play the part of the young Ollie Hardy in Neil Brand's BBC4 drama called STAN. I wait and I wait and I wait, but still the "YES" or "NO" does not come!
March 6th ....AND YES! The call did come and I get the chance to play Hardy. Filming is six days in late March at Shepperton Studios. Transmission date is 6th June on BBC4.
April 6th - My sister has her third boy - Finnley.
Tues 16th May is the BIG DAY. At 1pm I open in "Chicken and Mushroom Pie & Chips" at The Kings Head Theatre, Islington and at 8pm I open in "Can't Pay? Won't Pay!" at The Brockley Jack! I must be the only actor in the country that has TWO opening shows on the same day. AND, in between I have a meeting with the very trendy American film director HARMONY KORINE for a feature film!!!!!!
Tues 6th June - 9pm settle down to watch myself on BBC4 and the first showing of "STAN".
Wed 7th June - yes it is sad, I watch myself again at 10pm. It is so nice to have my evenings to myself again after weeks of rehearsing and performing in the theatre.
Sunday 30th July - A hot and sweaty first night of FLOOD at the Arcola Theatre Studio 2 and another sell out Net Curtains success. I get lots of laughs as Roy the Postman in HOUSE ON THE PROMONTORY. One more night - Aug 6th at 6pm.
Sept 11-16th I am taking part in Practicum Theatre's REEL TO REAL at Theatre 503, Latchmere Pub in Wandsworth. An evening of short plays linked by film quotes. I appear in the final piece, A LIFE LESS ORDINARY PEOPLE as Max, a bumbling spy alongside the luminous Mellony Carr as Brigit. One night both guns fail to fire and I end the show with a "BANG!"
October - Rehearsals start for ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST on Lordship Lane, East Dulwich, a ten minute walk from my house. We are working towards a six week run at Hackney Empire Acorn Studio from 1st November. Also this month I am filming DIAMOND GEEZER II with David Jason.
We run for 6 weeks and what an experience! Both good and bad. We are lucky enough to get good houses for the run but I will not be doing any fringe work again. From now on, I am going to be paid for what I do.
